Pros: Beats, Lyrics are excellent
Cons: Same style of song over and over
Score: 8/10
Recommend? Yes and yes again.
Right from the first time I talked to Prizm I knew he would go far. He showed me he had initiative and would never give up no matter what happened to him. As soon as I heard one of his tracks, I immediately asked if he had an album out. He told me it was in the works, and now, I finally have had the chance to hear it.
From beginning to end, Surfacing was top notch. When I first get a CD I usually listen to the beginning and middle of each track, but with this CD I was able to let it play through. There were a few songs that I can honestly say were not my style, but they were still worth the listen.
Also, normally I like tracks for the beats or how they sound, but I found my self liking tracks with emotion which Prizm delivers in a way that makes people think about what he is saying. The tracks I bump the most are "The Game of Life," "Isabel", and "It’s Over (Don’t Be Afraid)."
To the readers, if you are in need of a CD that has good beats, lyrics, emotion, and more, Surfacing is for you. Although I would have to say the CD has more tracks aimed towards women, anyone at all can vibe with this.
To Prizm himself, you are indeed on your way to stardom, keep representing Canadian emcees and if you do make it big time, stay true to your style and don’t change anything. Your real fans will stay with you forever. Thanks for letting me review your album and make sure to let me know when the next one comes out.
